I view them as equal in regards to MOST editing situations. I have seen vids of guys FLYING thru PT session but TBH I can go just as fast in Logic. Zoom is right there as well and if you Cntrl right click you get the toolbox right there to select anything else you want. I set my pointer, Marquee and crossfade tool and I'm good to go. But someone like me, for example, who does a lot of single track editing, Logic is smooth as butter. It depends on the type of editing I guess.

Well im a logic person always, but you have to admit pro tools editing blows logic out of the water, ProTools M-Powered = needs PT certified M-Audio modules AND an iLok key ProTools HD = Digidesign Certified Hardware acts as dongle ProTools LE = Digi003 and MBoxes AD/DA converters act as dongles The MBoxs all use the same components as M-Audio interfaces except for the first gen MBox and the 001. The 002 had the same converters as the Project Mix I/O. HARDWARE he Digi003 has the exact same AKM converters that the ProFire2626 has, but the preamps on the 2626 are spec'ed a little better. Meanwhile Cubase 5 looks awesome (at last!) and Ableton 8 definitely but they omitted a few absolutely crucial things that are essential for many users, so there is a way to go yet in terms of understanding this market segment in my opinion.

In short, PT8 is a real step forward in terms of bringing PT to home and prosumer users. Another example of deliberately limiting users creativity, which I think is a pity and a missed opportunity. I read in the SOS review that the included Sibelius-powered notation doesn't allow for dynamic markings, which is really lame in terms of printing off parts for musicians. So many purposely designed & crippled artificial features that are standard and fare for any other native DAW still. This is available for LE, but not for M-P. + If you go for M-Powered you cannot buy the DV Toolkit as a later expansion option. + No native VST support, and RTAS plugs are generally only available for the more expensive options. + No freeze function (again, standard in everything else these days) or proper bounce-to-audio (except 1:1 time) This certainly looks like a deliberate attempt by Digi to ensure that M-Audio gear appears backwards compared to their home grown products. + PT LE operates at 64 samples, as already stated M-Powered only goes down to 128, EVEN THOUGH the M-Audio interfaces actually operate at lower sample rates than the Digidesign ones. A huge disappointment and surprise that they still didn't fix this significant problem Every serious alternative has this, and even most budget/entry-level options do. + Lack of PDC automatic delay compensation.

Now i am thinking about PT8MP or LE., Thing is the upgrade to V8 is the same price of a mBox which comes with LE v8 free., so i will list below what understand is going on between the platforms and hope some of you users can verify if LE for example works on the same CPU with Logic as M Powered and or if there is a catch etc.īottom line is i have to use pro tools for other things and i can not edit audio and automation as good in Logic as i can in pro tools, but at the same time i can not use the same effects in pro tools MP that logic offers which are on the league of Digi's HD system, and i am trying to find a way to not track, edit then import into logic cuz in logic crucial editing later even with automation is tedious. My only complaint with PT has been that the delay sound nothing like Logic, same parameters but i guess its a headroom thing., I have been using pro tools MP more these days rather then logic, i even created a template which contains the exact replica of one i use in Logic and has 4 Bus channels loaded with Comps.
